Sensitivity

Since my last installment, Jarom finished college. He has been almost finished with college for nearly 4 years now, but this time he is actually done. No more classes, no more tests, no more teachers dirty looks…or something like that.

To celebrate Jarom and Lix went golfing. They played nine holes with some friends of ours, and had a great time. Jarom has continued to play more golf than he should, and thinks he is getting better, although that can’t be confirmed. He has a great time though. He is still wildly inconsistent, but hits really good shots on every 3rd or 4th swing.

His softball career is also continuing. He is playing in a Provo city league that is currently in the playoffs, and playing on an intramural team with his brother-in-law. This week he hit the first over-the-fence home run of his baseball/softball history. It is a little surprising that it took this long (he has played nearly 8,000 such games) but he was very happy that it happened.

The Winns have also begun the long process of moving. At this stage it consists of checking out truck rental prices, planning cross country itineraries, and giving away things that haven’t been used in years. So if you want something from us, now is the time to ask.

Jarom’s motorcycle also broke this week, and he was very fortunate that it happened in the parking lot here at home. His clutch cable snapped, which isn’t really dangerous, but would have been inconvenient had it happened elsewhere. Basically it means that the bike lost the ability to put the clutch in, which means no changing gears. A kind neighbor with a truck helped him load it up and take it down to the shop to get fixed.

There was an incident that Jarom shared with me this week that hurt my feelings. When he came home on Tuesday he found Alixa sitting on the couch waiting for him. She said hello and then mentioned that she had been talking to her brother Zak (my previous owner). She said that his wife was going to get him a ball python for his birthday and he offered to take me off her hands if she didn’t want to lug me across the country to Tennessee. Instead of saying no, or telling him that she would never get rid of me, she said she would ask Jarom and get back to him. Obviously, Jarom said no way, but it hurt me that Alixa would even consider it. I guess we aren’t as close as I thought. I just hope that someday she might grow to like me.
