March Madness

It has been a few weeks since my last installment, but lets be honest, not that much really happens around here. Things continue to go as they have been going, with few changes. Jarom's last intramural season continues, and he continues to see things that are insane. His basketball team won their final regular season game, and he witnessed an ejection on the other team after one of their players hit a ref and told him he was gay. They finished 4-1, with their only loss coming in a game that they played one man down for the entire game. The playoffs begin on Friday, and the stars have aligned themselves. Their first round opponent is none other than JD, Jarom's brother-in-law. Last year these two teams had a chance to play in the quarterfinals, but they both lost one game before. Nancy comes to town on Thursday, so she will be lucky enough to watch a game where she can root for both sides.

In other athletic news, Jarom and Alixa ran in the Rex Lee 5k on Saturday. Alixa decided that she simply couldn't leave Provo without having one of the t-shirts, and Jarom said that he would be happy to run it with her. After all, 3.1 miles isn't really that big of a deal. In an effort to make it more of a challenge, God turned the thermostat down to 30 degrees this weekend. Needless to say, Jarom was not excited about getting up and going outside on such a chilly morning. But they wanted to support cancer, so they did. Jarom started the race pretty quickly, but after about a quarter mile he realized that he doesn't care what time he gets, and his lungs hurt from the cold air, so he slowed down and ran the race with Lixi. They finished in about 27 minutes. That was good enough for first place in the girls 12 and under division. They then sat around in the freezing weather for another 45 minutes to see if they won the raffle prize- A new scooter! They did not. Instead it went to some little girl who couldn't have been older than 11 or 12. Lame.

In grad school updates, Jarom got rejected from West Virginia University and has decided to pick against them in his bracket for the upcoming Men's Basketball Tournament. He will be applying to a few other schools and I will keep you updated about those as information becomes available.

The cruise is getting closer and closer, and Jarom and Lixi are getting more and more excited. It will be very nice to wear shorts and be in the sun all day long.
